Ag Equipment Lead Technician

The position will involve but not be limited to the following duties:


  • Assist in scheduling work in the shop and field.
  • Diagnose and repair Ag equipment.
  • Assist mechanics on field jobs with tooling, ordering parts and getting information to them in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean work place and orderly flow through the shop.
  • Handle special projects as needed/requested by Service Manager.
  • Assist in receiving and delivery of equipment in and out of our yard.
  • Must be able to work closely with customers and have good communication skills.
  • Keep track of small tools, repairs needed, and general condition and assess new tools that may be needed.
  • Work with trainees and mechanics closely for quality assurance.
  • Assist in maintaining the work order process from open to close. This will include taking customer calls, trouble shooting on the phone, opening work order, dispatching techs and closing work order after repair is completed.
  • Ability to work without supervision.
  • Develop and enhance working relationships with customers and associates.
  • Understand the complete process of a service department.
  • After hour’s field service will be required as needed during the busy season.
  • Carry and answer the Ag after hour’s phone when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Three years minimum mechanical experience with the Ag line recommended, but not required.
  • This experience is to include all mechanical, hydraulic & electrical system knowledge, and the troubleshooting of these systems.
  • All applicants should be familiar with time requirements to perform specific jobs and have a working knowledge of the on-line DBS, BMTS, Epsilon, CLAAS and SIS systems.
  • Possess good written, oral and listening skills, and strong problem solving skills.
  • Leadership training preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, and help increase and develop troubleshooting skills.
  • Applicant must be a Service B classification or above and show the ability to work with Ag, Truck, and Heavy equipment customers.  
  • Individual must meet driver insurability standards
