    The position will involve but not be limited to the following duties:

    • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
    • Manage, improve, and maintain key employee policies and handbook in compliance with the law as well as alignment with our internal company values.
    • Maintain overall awareness of EEO laws and regulations
    • Prepares and finalizes the annual Affirmative Action plan in conjunction with legal to ensure the company’s overall compliance.
    • Prepares and files annual EEO-1 report and Vets 4212.
    • Resolves employee relations issues, works with managers and HR Director.  Provides guidance, conducts investigations, recommends solutions, and analyzes trends.
    • Assists HR/Benefit Manager with various projects and initiatives such as benefit open enrollment, pension calculations, employee communications etc.
    • Conducts exit interviews, analyzes turnover trends, and recommends retention strategies
    • Reviews, and updates job descriptions to include creating, verifying, determining FLSA status is defensible, and education and experience requirements are valid and necessary
    • Leads the full life-cycle talent acquisition process to recruit and build best-class-talent within the organization
    • Reports: Writes, maintains and supports a variety of reports.  Assists in development of standard reports for ongoing business needs
    • Drives continuous improvement in evaluating existing processes and focusing on improvement of tools, resources, process controls, and increasing the overall efficiency of the HR function.
    • Responsible for the onboarding and orientation of new employees
    • Provides managers with training and consultation on Performance Management activities. Guides managers as they handle performance issues, specifically in the areas of performance improvement plans, writing and delivering effective performance reviews, and creating development plans
    • Manages all FMLA and leave paperwork.  Monitors leaves and contacts employee or branch location to determine return dates when necessary.
    • 20-25% Travel Time
    • Works within and promotes vision, mission, and values of BMC.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Maintains confidentiality in all activities.
    • Represents BMC at Fargo-Moorhead Human Resources Association meetings.
    • Attends HR-related seminars and conferences in order to stay abreast of any changes in employment law.


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related degree with equivalent experience in training
    • Five or more years exempt level Human Resources experience
    • Excellent written and verbal communication
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Time management, organizational, and prioritization skills are essential
    • Ability to work independently and display a high level of independent discretion in managing Human Resource initiatives.
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality with employee information.
    • Strategic Problem Solver
    • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office  
    • Prior Labor relations experience helpful but not required
    • Travel in ND, SD, and NE is required up to 25% of the time
    • Must be able to meet and maintain driving insurability requirements.
